I had no internet over the weekend. My
ISP’s network imploded on Saturday and wasn’t back online until Sunday night. It’s funny because I read an article last week that pondered how we would cope if we had the internet taken from us. I wasn’t happy. I had set myself a number of things to do and found myself thwarted. More basically having that connection to the
World Wide Web severed made me feel isolated. Besides the lack of email losing the ability to check on things or search or read favourite sights had me feeling moderately bereft. It’s a measure of how fully the internet has been integrated into our daily life that I’m pretty sure my experience would be pretty similar to most, and that for some the lack would be desperately felt. The
interwebs is a drug we can’t live without for too long.
